The SMART Way - Self Hypnosis And Goal Setting
Posted by Reinecke Jesslyn on September 30th, 2010 filed in Goal SettingSelf hypnosis is the art of hypnotizing yourself and its not very hard to do. You just need to follow a number of simple steps and repeat them every day until you have achieved whatever goal you want to achieve.
So the very first step you need to take is to set yourself a goal. Because if you don’t have a goal you want to achieve, self hypnosis is just meditation! Now the stronger you make your goal the better and the best way to create a strong goal is by using the SMART system.
So how do you go about setting a goal with this system and what exactly does SMART stand for?
S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Affect
R = Realistic
T = Time
Lets say your goal is to lose weight.
Specific: Firstly your goal has got to be specific.The more specific you are the easier it will be to achieve your goal. So be exact. For example “I will lose exactly 14 pounds off of my present weight.”
Measurable: Next you have got to know when you have achieved your goal. So you might say “I will stand on the scales on (add date) and they will show me I have lost 14 pounds.”
Affect: Your goal has got to have an affect on your life. “I will feel very proud and pleased when I stand on the scales and see that I have lost 14 pounds.”
Realistic: Your goal has got to be realistic. Example ” I know I will be able to lose 14 pounds because I have checked my height/weight ratio and losing 14 pounds is realistic.”
Timed: You have got to set a date by when you want to achieve your goal. “I will be 14 pounds lighter by (set yourself a date).”
So to be certain of making self hypnosis work for you set your goals the S.M.A.R.T. way
