Set Your Time Management Goals And Focus On The Big Picture

Posted by Reinecke Jesslyn on July 11th, 2009 filed in Productivity

Unless you are focused on whatever it is you want to achieve you cannot make the most of the time available. If you spend all your time looking at the small things you will gradually veer off course. Working out where your time is spent will help you when you review your time management plan. Different people view time management in some rather different ways. Groups need to clearly understand what their aim is so they don’t all do different things.

Short term goals are one type of time management goal and the other is the long term goals. All of them will need you to list what and when things need to be completed. Short-term goals are often things that we can do right now but could also include the next couple of years. Long term time management goals are where we plan to be in five to ten years time.

Aim for the big picture instead of worrying about short term results. Avoid being distracted and maintain focus on your long term aims. Goals should be considered and changed as required and they should never be set in stone.

Try to do something every day that makes you better at using time management skills you have learned. You see people all of the time running around in circles never working towards long term goals. Concentrate on what you can do to make better use of your time while working towards your long term goals

Keep a regular check on where your time is spent and if that is wise and productive. Looking at things as though you were another person may help you see things clearly. This is to help you be logical in your decisions rather than allowing emotions to decide. Your free time should be considered as well and using time management skills can help to make the most of your relaxation time.

For any plan to succeed we must establish any requirements needed to achieve that goal. Lay out a plan of action showing how long you can spend working on each part of the plan. Time management always starts by looking at our aims and our intentions for where we want to end up

A time management scheme is where you set out your aims and ambitions for the future. Learn whatever you can that will be helpful when your goal is achieved .Make the time available to prepare your plans for the future.

The application of time and energy will help you achieve your goals but it must be focused on the important things. To achieve success you will need to plan and have a time frame of how things should pan out. Wasting time in one area of your life will delay your plans so always consider your time management goals when deciding to spend time on other things.

Nice article. I think that we can often get side tracked by small urgent tasks that stop us from doing those important tasks that move us towards our goals.

I find that setting time goals is great for focus and motivation towards achieving your dreams.

In my experience I have found it helpful to not to just set and forget my goals, but build a clear path with short-term goals that take you step-by-step towards your long-term goal.

Having goals that you are working on today can help you to manage the distractions that take you away from what you are trying to achieve.
