CONTROL YOUR TIME - CONTROL YOUR LIFE!

Considering our high-stress schedules today, it is only natural that we are spaced out and feel like we are constantly waging a war against time. This feeling creates immense stress in us and at the end of the day, we feel like we have accomplished nothing!

You can control your life a lot better, if only you take a few steps towards improving the way you function with your time in your hands. Efficiently managing your time will help you organize things around you, thereby generating more time than you ever thought was possible!

Here are a few useful tips to help you get in the driver’s seat and take control of your time and your life:

Relax - it isn’t that bad!

Learn to take this problem with a pinch of salt. There are a few things you are never going to be able to change, so you change for them. That traffic jam is always going to be there at peak hour, so there is no point getting frustrated with it. Stop fretting about it and start earlier from home instead!

Know where the traps are laid for you

There are certain other stimuli which might insist on upsetting you and ruining your day. Stress, both in personal and professional life, can affect you in various ways. It can sometimes even change your entire personality for the worse and end up negatively impacting your health.

Much of controlling your environment and leading a happy life depends on your own take on life. Be aware of the pitfalls in your life and with your own incapability of handling a particular situation.

Know where the minefields are, take a deep breath and tell yourself to calm down before tackling them head-on. Being aware of the problem and taking the necessary steps to mitigate the stress will itself allow you to lead a better life.

Take a break!

Do not take on too much work - you will get bogged down by it all. Instead, prioritize your work and take up just those that need your immediate attention. Free up time for yourself, so that you can sit back and relax once in a way.

Reserve a day of the week for just yourself and your family. Take off on a long drive, weekend trip or go to the movies. If nothing else, spend quality time at home with your partner and kids. That will revitalize you like nothing else will!

Get enough rest

Make sure you eat well and get enough sleep. These two factors play a major role in coping with stress. Lack of either one of them can lead to a steep decline in general health.

A lot of people in high-pressure fields like the media industry, tend to consume a lot of alcohol and keep smoking in order to reduce stress levels. Avoid getting into this kind of vicious circle, as this will only make your life spin totally out of control.

Get active!

Make sure you get your optimum dose of exercise each day. Exercise pumps up your system’s immune functions and steps up your general health. Moderate exercise is known to lift spirits, so you remain cheerful and are in control in each and every life situation presented to you.

This process of learning to control your time does not happen in a day. It comes through practice and experience. So you need to constantly keep working at improving this aspect of life and come up with better ways of facing each challenge life has in store for you!
