Aiding Productivity Using Timers
Posted by Reinecke Jesslyn on May 31st, 2010 filed in Time ManagementProductivity is the name that is given to how productive a person is with their time. Some people always seem to be able to get things done on time without any problems, whereas others can’t. If you are someone who would like to increase their productivity you could benefit from using timers as productivity tools. But how can this be done?
To start with you might not be aware of how much time you are taking for certain activities. This is one of the main problems with people who have problems with productivity. By timing how long you take to complete tasks you will have an idea of why your productivity is low.
Once you know how long you are taking on tasks you need to see if this is too much time. For example you might have thought that your morning routine took 20 minutes, but when you timed it you found it was 45. By doing this you can see where you are not being as productive as you could and change this.
When you have identified areas in which you have wasted time you need to learn to become more productive. You could use a timer here to set yourself limits on how long you wish to spend on activities. Do this for several days and you will start to become more productive.
As time goes on you will start to rely less on your timer. This will show that you are becoming more productive thanks to using a timer as a tool. By showing yourself how much time you waste, you can turn your productivity around.
As you can see timers really can be used as productivity tools. You just need to follow the advice on how to use them. So try it out and you might surprise yourself.
