Apple’s iPhone is now one of the most popular and sought-after smartphones available - with it’s amazing touch screen, great connectivity (3G, Edge or WiFi) and thousands upon thousands of applications and games available through the App Store, the iPhone has shown us the future of mobile phones and mobile browsing.

But how, if at all, can the iPhone aid you in running your business? The answer is a fim yes, and in lots of different ways. Let’s look first at the size and processing power of the iPhone - it’s operating system and memory allow it to be incredible powerful in terms of data and connectivity, it’s basically like having a laptop with you all the time. If your work has you travelling a lot, then the iPhone is the ideal companion as it allows you to leave behind your heavy laptop and not worry about files or folders.
The internet connnection on the iPhone is excellent and will almost always be able to find some sort of connection, whether it’s WiFi, 3G or Edge. With the way the phone is set up, this means you’ll have access to your emails so you’re never out of touch, the internet (accessed through Safari) and general instant access to whatever information you require. Wherever you are on the planet, you’ll generally always have access to the information you need to do your job.

The size, weight and memory of the phone also make it perfect for those who are always on the go, and it up to 32GB memory it’s perfect for business use. If you’re in the air, on a train, bus or in the cab, you’ll have access to all your music, film and books to keep you entertained, as well as your emails. If you’re on the ground and trying to find an address for a meeting, you have instant access to Google maps or any of the multitude of sat nav apps available for the iPhone. Not to mention being able to stay on top of those work messages and emails, meaning you never have to return to the office to a stuffed inbox again. The amount of data the iPhone can hold means you’ll always be able to take important documents with you to client meetings, check your PDF’s or your asset management software, look at Microsoft Word documents, whatever you need it to do.

The security is superb on the iPhone too, making it ideal for business use; say for example a work iPhone goes missing and you don’t want someone having access to your list of fixed assets? The iPhone supports remote locking and wiping, or you can just utilise the basic keylock security measure available from the settings screen.

The screen on the iPhone (3.5inch) also makes it perfect for showing data to clients, you can show them spreadsheets, talks, PDF’s, whatever you need to show, all on a wonderfully sharp screen.

Whatever your business needs the iPhone will have someway of making your day to day life easier, whatever field of industry you work in there will be an app available that does a job for you or minimises the amount of effort needed. They’re amazing phones and until you experience using them for yourself, you’ll never quite understand just how useful they can be.
